Sculpting Light in Wood
Stefano Falco is a contemporary Sculptor of Light working primarily in wood. Beginning his practice at the age of ten, he developed a lifelong dialogue with the material. Through carving, he reveals how light transforms surface into presence. His sculptures explore the tension between shadow and illumination, density and openness. Rooted in craftsmanship yet driven by poetic enquiry, Falco’s work situates wood as a threshold where matter and light converge.

An interview with Stefano Falco on creativity, craftsmanship, and the courage to pursue a life beyond the familiar.
It was around 2010 that I began collecting tools for woodcarving. I had heard about a talented young teacher, Stefano Falco, who was guiding activities in a senior citizens’ community program in Mosfellsbær. I signed up.
The fear and sense of inferiority I felt, being among all the men there, pushed me forward and after just one evening, the victory was won. The young teacher was patient and had a natural ability to guide, whether it was sketching a drawing, sharpening the chisels and tools, or showing how to use them properly.
With his warmth, yet firm voice, he could bring out the best in the student. Stefán is very artistic, and no project is too difficult for him. He has created countless magnificent carved artworks: clothing, shoes, boxes, and more.
Such talent is given to few, so make good use of it.
Wishing you all the best in your new endeavors.
Bjarnveig Höskulsdóttir, Former student
Stefano Falco is reliable and meticulous, placing great emphasis on quality and strong collaboration. Communication is clear and professional, and his ambition for well-executed work is reflected in the final result.
I strongly recommend my namesake, Stefán, to anyone seeking refined, artistic, and personal craftsmanship in wood.
